Siegmann) was an American actor and occasional director in the silent film era. Born in New York City, he appeared in over 100 films between 1909 and 1928. He is best known for playing Silas Lynch, the Lieutenant Governor, in D. W. Griffith's *The Birth of a Nation* (1915). Other notable roles include Cyrus in *Intolerance* (1916), Porthos in *The Three Musketeers* (1921), the guard in *The Cat and the Canary* (1927), and Barabbas in *The King of Kings* (1927). He also directed several films, including *The Trembling Hour* (1919). In 1915 Siegmann was seriously injured in a car crash involving fellow actor Tod Browning.
