George Sweeney is a British film and television actor. Born on 1 April 1943 in Bromley, Kent, he graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 1971 and began his screen career in the early 1970s.

He has appeared in numerous television series, including *Z-Cars*, *The New Avengers* (1976), *Citizen Smith* (as Speed, 1977–80), *The Bill* (1990–2006) and *Casualty* (1994–2007). Film roles include the helicopter pilot in *For Your Eyes Only* (1981), Captain Biagi in *Lion of the Desert* (1981), John Clay in *Without a Clue* (1988), Lou in *Revolver* (2005) and a supporting part in *Dom Hemingway* (2013). He has also performed with the Royal Shakespeare Company.
