## Biography

George T. Clemens was an American cinematographer. Born in Joplin, Missouri, he began working in the film industry in 1923 as an assistant cameraman and camera operator. He spent much of his early career at Paramount Studios, where he worked as a second cameraman to Karl Struss on numerous features.

Clemens is best known for his television work. He served as director of photography on 117 episodes of the series *The Twilight Zone* (1959–1964), more than any other cinematographer on the programme, and received a Primetime Emmy Award for his work in 1961, with three further nominations. He also photographed episodes of *Schlitz Playhouse* (1954–1956) and other series including *Twelve O'Clock High*.

A member of the American Society of Cinematographers from 1933, Clemens died in 1992.
