## Biography

George Waggner (7 September 1894 – 11 December 1984) was an American film director, producer, actor and writer. Born in New York City, he began his career as an actor, making his film debut in *The Sheik* (1921) and appearing in Westerns. He later moved into directing, with his first feature *Western Trails* (1938), and also worked as a producer.

Waggner is best known for directing and producing the horror film *The Wolf Man* (1941). His other directorial credits include *Man Made Monster* (1941), *The Fighting Kentuckian* (1949) and *Operation Pacific* (1951). In the 1960s he directed episodes of television series including *Maverick*, *Batman*, *The Green Hornet* and *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.*.
