George Wendt was an American actor. He was born in Chicago, Illinois, in 1948 and died in Studio City, Los Angeles, in 2025.

Wendt trained with Chicago's Second City comedy troupe before gaining prominence as Norm Peterson in the television series *Cheers* (1982–1993). He received six Primetime Emmy Award nominations for the role.

His film credits include *Forever Young* (1992), *The Little Rascals* (1994) and *Spice World* (1997), in which he played a film producer. He also voiced Norm Peterson in episodes of *The Simpsons* and *Family Guy*.
