## Biography

Georges Lannes (born Georges Henri Charles Abraham) was a French actor, director and screenwriter. He was born on 27 October 1895 in Paris and died there on 8 July 1983.

He appeared in more than one hundred films between 1920 and 1962. Lannes also directed several films in the 1920s and served in the French army during the First World War. He was the brother of the cartoonist Pol Rab.

Among his later screen roles were Maître Lieutard in *Maigret Sets a Trap* (1958), the president of the court in *The Count of Monte Cristo* (1961) and Balthazar Patou in *Moulin Rouge* (1952).
