## Biography

Georges Péclet, born Prosper Désiré Péclet, was a French actor, director and screenwriter. He appeared in ninety-five films between 1919 and 1957, including several short films, and is credited as Le serrurier in Jean Renoir's *Grand Illusion* (1937). He also played Barsac in *Pépé le Moko* (1937) and Lieutenant Pignatel in *La Marseillaise* (1938).

Péclet began as an assistant director in 1927 and directed his first film in 1928. He went on to direct ten films in total, the last in 1963, and wrote the screenplays for five of them while producing one. He is sometimes credited simply as Peclet.
