## Biography

Georges Renavent (also credited as Georges de Cheux, George Renavent and variants) was a French-American actor in film and on Broadway. Born in Paris, France, he immigrated to the United States in 1914. His first American film appearance was in *The Seven Sisters* (1915).

Renavent appeared in numerous Hollywood films, often in supporting or uncredited roles, including *Queen Christina* (1934) as the French Ambassador, *Rio Rita* (1929), *Casablanca* (1943), *Strangers on a Train* (1951) and *Mara Maru* (1952). He also performed in Broadway productions and operated an American Grand Guignol theatre. He was married to actress Selena Royle from 1948 until his death in Guadalajara, Mexico, on 2 January 1969.
