## Biography

Gerald Mayer (1919–2001) was a Canadian-born film and television director. He directed episodes of the series *Mission: Impossible* (1966) and *The Fugitive* (1963), as well as numerous other television programmes including *Mannix*, *The Six Million Dollar Man*, *Airwolf* and *Quincy, M.E.*.

The son of an MGM studio manager and nephew of Louis B. Mayer, he graduated from Stanford University and served in the US Navy during the Second World War. He began directing screen tests and short films in 1945 before moving to feature films such as *The Sellout* (1952) and *Bright Road* (1953), and later concentrated on television work.
