Gérard Darmon is a French-Moroccan actor and singer. Born in Paris on 29 February 1948, he studied dramatic arts and performed in café-théâtre for nearly a decade before making his film debut in *The Mad Adventures of Rabbi Jacob* (1973).

He played L'Antillais in *Diva* (1981) and appeared in *Betty Blue* (1986). Darmon received César Award nominations for Best Supporting Actor for his roles in *Betty Blue* and *Asterix & Obelix: Mission Cleopatra* (2002). Other credits include *Fear City: A Family-Style Comedy* (1994) and *Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom* (2023). He has worked frequently with directors such as Jean-Jacques Beineix and Alain Chabat.

Darmon was married to actress Mathilda May from 1994 to 1999. In 2012 he was naturalised as a Moroccan citizen by decree of King Mohammed VI.
