## Biography

Gerry Blattner (born Gerard L. Blattner) was a British film producer and production executive. The son of film producer and inventor Ludwig Blattner, he entered the industry in the 1930s, working as production supervisor on *My Lucky Star* (1933) and production manager on *The Edge of the World* (1937).

By the 1950s he oversaw or produced numerous Warner Bros. films made in the United Kingdom and Europe, including *Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.* (1951), *Where's Charley?* (1952) and *Fanny* (1961). He is best known as producer of *The Sundowners* (1960), directed by Fred Zinnemann. In the mid-1970s his company, Gerry Blattner Productions, was involved in the BBC television adaptation of *I, Claudius* (1976).
