## Biography

Gerry Davis was a British television writer and story editor. He served as story editor on *Doctor Who* (1963) from 1966 to 1967, during which he co-created the Cybermen with scientific adviser Kit Pedler and introduced the companion Jamie McCrimmon. He also wrote episodes including *The Tenth Planet* (1966, with Pedler), *The Highlanders* (1966) and *The Tomb of the Cybermen* (1967, with Pedler).

Davis returned to *Doctor Who* in 1975 to write the original script for *Revenge of the Cybermen*. He adapted several of his scripts as Target Books novelisations. With Pedler he co-created the ecological series *Doomwatch* (1970–1972). His other screen credits include episodes of *United!* and *Coronation Street*, and the screenplay for the feature film *The Final Countdown* (1980).

Davis was born Gerald Davis on 23 February 1930 and died on 31 August 1991.
