## Biography

Giancarlo Ferrando (4 November 1939 – 13 August 2020) was an Italian cinematographer and occasional director. Born in Rome, he began working in film as a child actor before becoming an assistant operator in the late 1950s under Augusto Tiezzi. He worked for over a decade as an operator and assistant cinematographer before debuting as director of photography in 1971.

Ferrando maintained a long professional association with directors Sergio Martino and producer Luciano Martino, contributing to numerous giallo thrillers and other Italian productions. His credits include *All the Colours of the Dark* (1972), *Your Vice Is a Locked Room and Only I Have the Key* (1972), *Torso* (1973), *Troll 2* (1990) and *L'allenatore nel pallone 2* (2008). In 1994 he directed his only feature, *La ragazza di Cortina*.
