## Biography

Gianni Puccini (9 November 1914 – 3 December 1968) was an Italian screenwriter and film director. Born in Milan, he was the son of writer Mario Puccini and brother of screenwriter Massimo Mida. He began working in cinema in the early 1940s and contributed to the screenplay of *Obsession* (1943), directed by Luchino Visconti.

Puccini wrote for numerous films and collaborated extensively with Giuseppe De Santis, including on the story and screenplay for *Bitter Rice* (1949). He is also credited on *Rome 11:00* (1952). He directed 18 films between 1951 and 1968, among them *Parola di ladro* (1957, co-directed with Nanni Loy) and *The Seven Cervi Brothers* (1968).
