## Biography

Giles Blunt is a Canadian novelist and screenwriter. Born in Windsor, Ontario, in 1952, he grew up in North Bay and studied English literature at the University of Toronto. He lived in New York City for twenty years, writing for television series including *Law & Order*, *Street Legal* and *Night Heat*.

Blunt is best known for the John Cardinal crime novels, set in the fictional northern Ontario city of Algonquin Bay. The first, *Forty Words for Sorrow* (2000), won the Crime Writers' Association Silver Dagger award; later entries including *The Delicate Storm* and *Until the Night* won Arthur Ellis Awards from the Crime Writers of Canada. The series was adapted into the television series *Cardinal* (2017).

His other works include the psychological thriller *Cold Eye* (1989), which was filmed in France as *Les Couleurs du diable* (1997), and standalone novels such as *No Such Creature* and *Breaking Lorca*.
