Giles New is a British actor and writer. He is best known for portraying the character Murtogg, a bumbling Royal Navy sailor, in three films of the *Pirates of the Caribbean* series: *The Curse of the Black Pearl* (2003), *At World's End* (2007) and *Dead Men Tell No Tales* (2017).

New began acting in the late 1990s with appearances in British television series including *The Bill* (1998) and *EastEnders*. He has also featured in films such as *St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold* (2009) and the television series *Merlin* (2012). In addition to acting, he works as a writer and voice director on animated series and feature films, including *Ronja, the Robber's Daughter* (2014–2015) and projects for Disney, Aardman and CBBC.
