## Biography

Giles Nuttgens is a British cinematographer. He began his career with the BBC's natural history documentary unit in 1984, working as a camera assistant before becoming one of the youngest film cameramen at the BBC by the age of 25.

Nuttgens is known for his work on Deepa Mehta's Elements trilogy, comprising *Fire* (1996), *Earth* (1998) and *Water* (2005), as well as *Midnight's Children* (2012). He received the Genie Award for Best Achievement in Cinematography for *Water*. He has collaborated repeatedly with director David Mackenzie on films including *Young Adam*, *Asylum*, *Hallam Foe* (2007) and *Hell or High Water* (2016), for which he received a BAFTA nomination for Best Cinematography. Other credits include *The Deep End* (2001), for which he won the Sundance Film Festival Cinematography Award, *Bee Season* (2005), *Colette* (2018) and *Enola Holmes* (2020).
