Gilles Durieux was a French screenwriter, journalist, film critic, photographer and writer. Born Joseph François Apperry on 19 May 1934 in Lesneven, Finistère, he died on 31 May 2023 in Landerneau.

He began as a journalist with the weekly *Radar* and the film magazine *Cinémonde*, later becoming responsible for fiction at Canal+. He served as head of the actors' bureau at the Cannes Film Festival and as press director for Unifrance Films. His screenwriting credits include the 1983 biopic *Édith et Marcel* and adaptations for the television series *Paul Gauguin* (1975).

Durieux also appeared as an actor in films including *L'Argent* (1983) and *L'imprécateur* (1977). He published essays, biographies and poetry, among them works on Lino Ventura, Jean Marais and Jean-Paul Belmondo.
