## Biography

Giovanni Fusco (10 October 1906 – 31 May 1968) was an Italian composer, pianist and conductor. He wrote film scores from 1936 onwards, working under the aliases Vasco Ugo Finni and John Wellman.

Fusco is best known for his scores for Michelangelo Antonioni's films, including *Story of a Love Affair* (1950), *Il Grido* (1957), *L'Avventura* (1960), *L'Eclisse* (1962) and *Red Desert* (1964). He also composed for Alain Resnais's *Hiroshima Mon Amour* (1959). Two of his Antonioni scores, for *Cronaca di un amore* and *L'Avventura*, won Silver Ribbons for best film score from the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists.

His brother Tarcisio Fusco was also a composer. His daughter Cecilia Fusco was an operatic soprano.
