## Biography

Glenn Greenwald is an American journalist, author and lawyer. He was born on 6 March 1967 in New York. In 1996 he founded a law firm specialising in First Amendment litigation before turning to blogging on national security issues in 2005.

Greenwald became a prominent critic of US foreign policy, particularly the Iraq War and surveillance practices. In 2013 he reported on documents leaked by Edward Snowden. He co-founded the online publication The Intercept in 2014 and edited it until his resignation in 2020; he has since published on Substack.

He appears as himself in the 2014 documentary *Citizenfour*, which covers the initial meetings with Snowden in Hong Kong. Greenwald is also credited in other documentaries, including *Kim Dotcom: Caught in the Web* (2017).
