## Biography

Glenn Standring is a New Zealand writer, director and producer working primarily in the action, horror and fantasy genres. He is from Feilding in the North Island and studied film at the Ilam School of Fine Arts before completing a first-class honours degree in archaeology at the University of Otago.

His early short film *Lenny Minute One* (1993) screened in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Standring wrote and directed the features *The Irrefutable Truth about Demons* (2000) and *Perfect Creature* (2007). He wrote the screenplay for *The Dead Lands* (2014), which he also produced, and provided the story for the documentary *McLaren* (2016) and the screenplay for *6 Days* (2017). He directed an episode of the series *Spartacus* (2010) and later served as creator and executive producer on the television adaptation of *The Dead Lands* (2020). Standring has lectured in English at the University of Canterbury.
