## Biography

Gloria Katz (25 October 1942 – 25 November 2018) was an American screenwriter and film producer. She studied English at the University of California, Berkeley, and earned a master's degree in film from UCLA. In 1969 she married screenwriter Willard Huyck, with whom she frequently collaborated.

Katz and Huyck co-wrote the screenplay for *American Graffiti* (1973) with George Lucas; the film earned them an Academy Award nomination and awards from the National Society of Film Critics and the New York Film Critics Circle. They contributed uncredited script work to *Star Wars* (1977), including dialogue and developments for Princess Leia. Their other credits include the screenplays for *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom* (1984) and *Howard the Duck* (1986), as well as writing and producing *Messiah of Evil* (1975) and *French Postcards* (1979).
