## Biography

Glyn Houston (1925–2019) was a Welsh actor. Born Glyndwr Desmond Houston in the Rhondda Valley, he was the younger brother of film actor Donald Houston. After service in the Second World War he began his career on stage, making his screen debut in *The Blue Lamp* (1950).

He appeared in numerous films including *The Cruel Sea* (1953), *The One That Got Away* (1957) and *The Sea Wolves* (1980), often in supporting roles as sailors, soldiers or working-class characters. On television he was known for roles such as Bunter in the Lord Peter Wimsey adaptations, Duncan Thomas in *Keep It in the Family* (1980–1983), appearances in *Doctor Who*, *Minder* (as Harry, 1980), *Inspector Morse* and *Softly Softly*.

Houston received a BAFTA Cymru special award in 2008. He was married to actress Shirley Lawrence from 1956 until her death; they had two daughters.
