## Biography

Gordon MacRae was an American actor and singer. Born Albert Gordon MacRae on 12 March 1921 in East Orange, New Jersey, he died on 24 January 1986 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

He made his Broadway debut in 1942 and appeared in numerous film musicals. MacRae is best known for playing Curly McLain in the 1955 film version of *Oklahoma!*, and Billy Bigelow in *Carousel* (1956). He also starred opposite Doris Day in *On Moonlight Bay* (1951), *Starlift* (1951) and *By the Light of the Silvery Moon* (1953).

MacRae worked in radio and television, hosting his own shows, and appeared in series such as *McCloud* (1970).
