## Biography

Gordon T. Dawson was an American writer, producer and former wardrobe supervisor. He began his film career in the costume department before collaborating extensively with director Sam Peckinpah on *The Wild Bunch* (1969), *The Ballad of Cable Hogue* (1970), *The Getaway* (1972), *Pat Garrett & Billy the Kid* (1973) and *Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia* (1974), where he also served as associate producer and co-wrote the screenplay.

Dawson wrote for numerous television series from the late 1960s onwards, including episodes of *Bonanza*, *Lou Grant* and nine episodes of *The Rockford Files* (1975–1979). He created and wrote all 18 episodes of the 1981–1982 series *Bret Maverick*, and later wrote 32 episodes of *Walker, Texas Ranger* (1993–2001) while serving as supervising producer and co-executive producer. Other credits include *Star Trek: Deep Space Nine*, *Silk Stalkings* and *Diagnosis: Murder*. He received Western Writers of America Spur awards and Western Heritage Wrangler awards, and was nominated for a Writers Guild of America award for the 1999 telefilm *Purgatory*.
