## Biography

Gorô Kusakabe (1934–2020) was a Japanese film producer and production designer. He was born in Gifu Prefecture and worked primarily with Toei Company on yakuza and period dramas.

Kusakabe served as producer on Kinji Fukasaku’s *Battles Without Honor and Humanity* (1973) and its sequels *Police Tactics* (1974) and *Final Episode* (1974). He also produced Shohei Imamura’s *The Ballad of Narayama* (1983), on which he received a production design credit, and worked on numerous other Toei productions as planner or producer through the 1990s.
