Born Karl Gösta Prüzelius in Stockholm on 11 August 1922, he trained at the Gothenburg City Theatre school from 1941 to 1943 and made his film debut in 1945. He appeared in more than 120 films and television productions over a career spanning 1945 to 2000. Prüzelius worked at the Royal Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm from 1964 for over thirty years. He is known for roles in several Ingmar Bergman films, including *The Seventh Seal* (1957), *Smiles of a Summer Night* (1955), *The Magic Flute* (1975) and *Fanny and Alexander* (1982). Other credits include *Summer with Monika* (1953), *Shame* (1968), *Pippi Longstocking* (1969) and the voice of Bagheera in the Swedish dub of Disney's *The Jungle Book* (1967). On television he played shipping magnate Reidar Dahlén in the long-running series *Rederiet* from 1992 until his death.
