## Biography

Guy Marchand (22 May 1937 – 15 December 2023) was a French actor, musician and singer. He appeared in more than 100 films over a career spanning more than 30 years.

He played André in Maurice Pialat’s *Loulou* (1980). Other film roles included Inspector Marcel Belmont in *Garde à vue* (1981), for which he received the César Award for Best Supporting Actor, Marcel Chavasson in *Coup de Torchon* (1981), and appearances in *Cousin, Cousine* (1975) and *The Longest Day* (1962). He was best known for portraying the detective Nestor Burma in the television series of the same name (1991–2003). Marchand began as a singer with the 1965 hit *La Passionata* and published an autobiography in 2007.
