## Biography

Guy Oliver, also credited as George Guy Oliver, was an American actor who appeared in character roles in silent films and early talkies. Born in Chicago, Illinois, he began his career as a cornet player in a family musical troupe before turning to acting around 1908. He worked for Lubin Studios in Philadelphia and later joined Jesse L. Lasky's company in California in 1916, where he remained under contract for many years.

Oliver appeared in at least 189 silent films and 32 talkies between 1911 and 1931, often alongside Wallace Reid. He directed three short films in 1915. Among his credits is the role of The Crimp in *The Docks of New York* (1928), directed by Josef von Sternberg. He retired in 1931 owing to ill health but remained on the studio payroll until his death.
