## Biography

Guy Trosper was an American screenwriter. Born in Lander, Wyoming, on 27 March 1911, he began his film career as a reader for Samuel Goldwyn before becoming a screenwriter in 1941.

He wrote the screenplays for *The Stratton Story* (1949), *Devil's Doorway* (1950), *The Pride of St. Louis* (1952), *Jailhouse Rock* (1957), *One-Eyed Jacks* (1961), *Birdman of Alcatraz* (1962, which he also produced) and *The Spy Who Came In from the Cold* (1965). Trosper received an Academy Award nomination for Best Story for *The Pride of St. Louis* and, posthumously, shared an Edgar Award for Best Motion Picture Screenplay for *The Spy Who Came In from the Cold*. He died on 19 December 1963.
