## Biography

Helmuth von Stwolinski, also credited as H. von Stwolinski, was a German-Austrian cinematographer and photographer. Born in Munich in 1901, he studied animal painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and trained as a photographer. From 1928 he worked as a press photographer and on expeditions.

In 1936 Riefenstahl engaged him for the Olympia-Film G.m.b.H. production. He contributed to the cinematography of *Olympia* (1938), handling several camera systems and filming rowing events at Grünau. Additional credits include *Hochzeit im Walsertal* (1940) and two other 1940 films.

After the Second World War he settled in Salzburg and then Vienna, where he became a partner in a photographic equipment firm and developed camera systems. He received the Kulturpreis of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Photographie.
