## Biography

Hajime Okayasu (岡安肇) was a Japanese film and anime editor. Born in Tokyo in 1936, he worked extensively in both live-action cinema and animation, editing over a hundred titles across several decades.

He edited Shohei Imamura's *The Ballad of Narayama* (1983), *Black Rain* (1989), *The Eel* (1997) and *Dr. Akagi* (1998). He also edited numerous anime productions, including long-running series such as *Doraemon* and films in the *Crayon Shin-chan* franchise. Okayasu received Japanese Academy Award nominations for Best Editor for *The Eel* and *Dr. Akagi*, and won the award for *Black Rain*. He died in 2014.
