## Biography

Hannes Salat (also credited as Johannes Salat) is an Austrian production designer born in Vienna in 1969. He trained at the Modeschule Hetzendorf, graduating in 1990 with a specialisation in leatherwork and handbags, before entering film as a production design assistant on *Kino im Kopf* (1996). His first credit as production designer came with *Heller als der Mond* (2000).

Salat has worked on numerous Austrian and international films and television productions. He is known for his production design on *Goodnight Mommy* (2014) and *Quo Vadis, Aida?* (2020). He has received the Austrian Film Prize for Best Production Design three times, for *Goodnight Mommy*, *Hidden Reserves* (2016) and *Quo Vadis, Aida?*. Since 2014 he has taught production design at the Vienna Film Academy and the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
