## Biography

Hans Bacher is a German production designer and visual development artist who has worked extensively in animation. He served as production designer on the Disney film *Mulan* (1998), for which he created a style guide drawing on traditional Chinese painting and comics to establish the film's visual approach.

Bacher contributed visual development to several other Disney features, including *Aladdin* (1992), *The Lion King* (1994), *Hercules* (1997) and *Brother Bear* (2003). He was also production designer on *Balto* (1995) and worked on visual development for *The Little Matchgirl* (2006). He is the author of books on animation production design, including *Dream Worlds*.
