## Biography

Hardie Albright (born Hardie Hunter Albrecht) was an American actor. Born in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, on 16 December 1903, he was the child of travelling vaudeville performers and made his stage debut in one of their acts at a young age. He graduated from Carnegie Tech with a degree in drama in 1926 and gained experience with Eva Le Gallienne's repertory company before making his Broadway debut that year in *Saturday Night*.

Albright moved to Hollywood after being spotted in the stage production *The Greeks Had a Word for It*. He made his film debut in *Young Sinners* (1931) and appeared in numerous features, including *Saboteur* (1942) and *The Pride of the Yankees* (1942). He provided the uncredited voice of the adolescent Bambi in the 1942 Disney animated film *Bambi*.

After the Second World War, Albright largely retired from film acting and became a drama instructor at UCLA, where he wrote several books on acting and directing. He made guest appearances on television series during the 1960s, including episodes of *The Twilight Zone*, *Bewitched*, *Perry Mason* and *Gunsmoke*.
