Harkness Smith (1910–1989) was an American cinematographer. He began his career in the camera department on feature films, serving as assistant camera on titles including *The Big Trail* (1930) and *Mutiny on the Bounty* (1935), and later worked as a camera operator on films such as *Summer Stock* (1950) and *Johnny Eager* (1941).

From the late 1950s he moved into director of photography roles on television. His credits include one episode of *The Twilight Zone* (1960), 123 episodes of *Dr. Kildare* (1961–1966), 53 episodes of *The High Chaparral* (1967–1971), 27 episodes of *The Girl from U.N.C.L.E.* (1966–1967), and 22 episodes of *Lucas Tanner* (1974–1975). He also worked on series such as *Owen Marshall, Counselor at Law* and *Bonanza*.
