## Biography

Harold Jack Bloom (1924–1999) was an American screenwriter and television producer. He began his career in the late 1940s and received an Academy Award nomination for his screenplay for the Western *The Naked Spur* (1953).

Bloom wrote for numerous television series, including *Foreign Intrigue*, *Bonanza*, *The Man from U.N.C.L.E.* and *Twelve O'Clock High*. He was a co-creator of the medical drama *Emergency!* (1972) and contributed the pilot episode. His film credits include *Land of the Pharaohs* (1955) and *A Gunfight* (1971).

When Richard Maibaum was unavailable, Bloom was hired to write the screenplay for the James Bond film *You Only Live Twice* (1967). Although his script was not used, he received credit for additional story material. He was also a producer on several projects through his company Thoroughbred Productions.
