## Biography

Harriet Margulies was a production assistant, writer and actress. She began her career as a publicist in New York and Los Angeles before becoming a production assistant for Universal Television in the 1970s, working on series including *Kojak*, *Magnum, P.I.* and *Quantum Leap*.

Margulies co-wrote an episode of *Kojak* in 1977. In the 1990s she worked as an audience liaison for *JAG* and then *NCIS*, serving the latter for 19 years. She made cameo appearances as an actress on *Quantum Leap*, *JAG* and *NCIS*, where she played an attractive older woman. The *JAG* character Harriet Sims was named after her.

Margulies died on 30 October 2021 in Northridge, California, aged 94.
