## Biography

Harry Crocker was an American actor, assistant director and uncredited screenwriter. Born in San Francisco, he worked as a journalist for the Los Angeles Examiner while appearing in films from the mid-1920s onwards.

He is known for playing Rex, a tightrope walker, in Charlie Chaplin's *The Circus* (1928), in which he also served as assistant director. Crocker contributed uncredited screenplay work, as well as assistant director and unit publicist duties, on Chaplin's *City Lights* (1931). He later appeared in small roles in films including *The Big Parade* (1925), *Gentleman Jim* (1942) and *Limelight* (1952).

Crocker was a member of the prominent Crocker family and maintained a long association with Chaplin, despite a temporary rift during the production of *City Lights*. He died in Beverly Hills in 1958.
