## Biography

Harry Gulkin (1927–2018) was a Canadian film producer and theatre director. Born in Montreal to Russian immigrants, he produced several films adapting Canadian literature, including *Lies My Father Told Me* (1975), *Two Solitudes* (1978) and *Bayo* (1985).

He served as executive and artistic director of the Saidye Bronfman Centre for the Arts in Montreal from 1983 to 1987, and later worked as an analyst for a Quebec film funding agency. In 2008 he received a special Genie Award for his contributions to Canadian cinema. Gulkin appeared as a storyteller in Sarah Polley's documentary *Stories We Tell* (2012).
