## Biography

Harry Harris (8 September 1922 – 19 March 2009) was an American television director. Born in Kansas City, Missouri, he moved to Los Angeles in 1937 and began working in the mailroom at Columbia Studios. After attending UCLA he progressed to sound effects and film editing roles. During the Second World War he served in the US Army Air Forces First Motion Picture Unit, where his supervisor was Ronald Reagan.

After the war Harris worked as an editor at Desilu before moving into directing. Over five decades he directed hundreds of television episodes. His credits include episodes of *Mission: Impossible* (1966), *Gunsmoke*, *The Waltons*, *Falcon Crest*, *Dallas*, *MacGyver*, *Beverly Hills, 90210*, *Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman*, *7th Heaven*, *Kung Fu*, *The Time Tunnel* and *Hawaii Five-O*. He won a Primetime Emmy Award in 1982 for directing an episode of *Fame* and received further Emmy and Directors Guild of America nominations.
