## Biography

Harry Reasoner (born Harry Truman Reasoner) was an American broadcast journalist who worked for CBS and ABC News. He was one of the original correspondents and hosts of the news magazine programme *60 Minutes* from its launch in 1968 until 1970, and again from 1978 until his retirement.

Reasoner was born on 17 April 1923 in Dakota City, Iowa, and studied journalism at Stanford University and the University of Minnesota. He began his career in newspapers and radio before joining CBS in 1956, later anchoring the ABC evening news and contributing to numerous documentaries and specials. He received three Emmy Awards and a George Foster Peabody Award.

Reasoner died on 6 August 1991 in Norwalk, Connecticut. Archive footage of him appears in the 2003 documentary *The Fog of War* and the 2021 film *Summer of Soul*.
