## Biography

Sir Harry Secombe was a Welsh actor, comedian and singer. He played Mr Bumble in the film *Oliver!* (1968).

Secombe was a central performer in the BBC radio series *The Goon Show* (1951–60) as Neddie Seagoon. He appeared in other films including *Davy* (1958) and *The Bed Sitting Room* (1969), and later presented television programmes featuring hymns. He was appointed CBE in 1963 and knighted in 1981.
