## Biography

Heinrich Gotho was an Austrian actor. Born Heinrich Gottesmann, he trained in singing and acting in Vienna and began his stage career in 1890. He adopted the stage name Gotho around 1900 and moved to Berlin in 1911, where he performed at the Neues Volkstheater and later worked in film.

Gotho appeared in numerous German films from the 1920s to the early 1930s, often in supporting or uncredited roles. He collaborated with director Fritz Lang on *Dr. Mabuse, the Gambler* (1922), *Metropolis* (1927) as the Master of Ceremonies, *Spies* (1928), *Woman in the Moon* (1929), *M* (1931) and *The Testament of Dr. Mabuse* (1933). His career ended in 1933.
