## Biography

Heinz Moog was a German actor. Born Gustav Heinrich Eduard Moog on 28 June 1908 in Frankfurt am Main, he died on 9 May 1989 in Vienna, Austria.

He trained privately with actor and writer Alfred Auerbach and later at Dr. Hoch’s Konservatorium. His stage debut was in 1927 at the Frankfurter Künstlertheater; he later worked in Kassel, Plauen and Weimar before joining the Burgtheater ensemble in Vienna from 1943 to 1969, with guest appearances there until 1980. He also performed at the Salzburg Festival from 1948.

Moog appeared in more than seventy films between 1943 and 1989. He is known for roles including Il conte Serpieri in *Senso* (1954), Professor von Gudden in *Ludwig* (1973) and appearances in the television series *Derrick* (1974). He received numerous honours, among them the title of Kammerschauspieler (1955), the Ehrenkreuz für Wissenschaft und Kunst I. Klasse (1963) and honorary membership of the Burgtheater (1978).
