## Biography

Henri Rust (also credited as Han Rust or Henry Rust) was a Dutch-born film editor who worked primarily in France. Born Han Rust on 10 August 1906 in Laren, Noord-Holland, he began his career in 1931 as editor of the French-language version of *The Threepenny Opera*, directed by G. W. Pabst.

He collaborated frequently with director Marcel Carné, editing *Les Visiteurs du soir* (1942), *Children of Paradise* (1945), *Thérèse Raquin* (1953) and *Les Assassins de l'ordre* (1971). Other notable credits include *Mayerling* (1936), *The Wages of Fear* (1953), *Gervaise* (1956) and *Germinal* (1963). Rust worked across several countries and remained active until 1977; he died on 2 May 1996 in Paris.
