## Biography

Henry Bromell was an American novelist, screenwriter and director. He graduated from Amherst College in 1970 after attending Eaglebrook School and the United World College of the Atlantic. His early work included short stories published in The New Yorker and the novel The Slightest Distance, for which he received the Houghton Mifflin Literary Award.

Bromell wrote for television series including Northern Exposure (1990), Homicide: Life on the Street (1993–1997, contributing to 26 episodes), Carnivàle (2003), Chicago Hope and Brotherhood. He served as writer and executive producer on Homeland (2011), for which he received a Writers Guild of America Award and a posthumous Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. He wrote and directed the feature film Panic (2000) and the television film Last Call (2002).

Bromell died on 18 March 2013.
