## Biography

Henry Wadsworth, also credited as Joseph Henry Wadsworth, was an American actor. Born in Maysville, Kentucky, he attended the University of Kentucky and trained at the drama school of the Carnegie Institute of Technology before beginning his career on stage.

He made his Broadway debut in the title role of *Tommy* in 1927 and appeared in early sound films including *Applause* (1929). Wadsworth is known for supporting roles in *The Thin Man* (1934) as Tommy and *Mark of the Vampire* (1935) as Fedor Vincente, among more than twenty films through the 1930s.

After serving in the US Navy during the Second World War and entertaining troops with the USO, he left acting and became a union administrator, serving as president of the AFL's Film Council.
