## Biography

Hermione Ferdinanda Gingold (9 December 1897 – 24 May 1987) was an English actress. She made her professional stage debut as a child and later appeared in London revues before moving to the United States in the early 1950s, where she performed on Broadway.

Her film roles include Madame Alvarez in *Gigi* (1958) and Eulalie Mackechnie Shinn in *The Music Man* (1962). She also appeared in *Around the World in 80 Days* (1956), *Bell, Book and Candle* (1958) and provided the voice of Mme. Rubens-Chatte in the animated feature *Gay Purr-ee* (1962).
