## Biography

Hideo Yamamoto is a Japanese cinematographer. He was born in 1960 in Gifu, Japan.

Yamamoto has worked as director of photography on numerous films, including *Fireworks* (1997), *Audition* (1999), *Ichi the Killer* (2001), *The Grudge* (2004) and *Why Don't You Play in Hell?* (2013). He has frequently collaborated with director Takashi Miike.

His work on *Fireworks* earned him the Silver Frog award at the Camerimage festival and recognition at the Mainichi Film Concours. He has also received Yokohama Film Festival awards for best cinematography.
